Siding out overgrown paths

Kersten UBS Hydro recovering over grown paths

 · 1 min read

Many footpaths have become overgrown and due to neglect and budgetary restraints.

The hard surface beneath has been covered by turf.

Over time a path that was 1.5m may now be only 0.5m wide, too small for a wheelchair or children's pushchair, often making the footpath difficult to traverse and potentially a slip hazard instead of a natural thoroughfare.

The Kersten UBS HYDRO 2 wheel tractor using the 60cm weed brush can fit down a pathway. The wire brushes can easily remove the overburden.

By making the solid sod (soil) material friable, with the action of the brush, it is easy to shovel or sweep from the hard path surface.

As can be seen that the surface is not damaged by the weed head as the impact is governed by a supporting guide wheel.

Once the surface has been cleared, using a shovel, sweeper or by a back pack blower when dryer, (today's demo was in the rain) the finished result shows the gain in width as well as a surefooted surface to walk or wheel upon.

If the path is left covered for long periods the freeze-thaw and weed root action will cause surface deterioration and gradual breakup of the path.

If paths are swept regularly surface problems are negated to a greater extent.

Maintenance is the key and Kersten Machines, be it small pedestrian or larger mounted, are available to solve these these issues.
